All I want is to be happy and content. My doctor has me on antidepressants and it's just not helping. I go to church regulary and study the Bible and pray daily. What is wrong with me? Why can't I just be happy?

we can go to church, and read Bible but that is not all we have to practice,
from what have mentioned i understand you are depressed, it can be out of fear, or you are longing to be love, or you are worried about things without any reason, examine your self, you are your own best doctor, your Bible is the best prescribtion.
Jesus says do not fear for I am with you,
forgive one another, believe in JESUS and have faith nothing is going to hurt you. nothing will go wrong praise JESUS for every thing, and thank HIM for everything. be relaxed. cast your burdon onto HIM, HE will lead you. Believe in HIS word

You might want to realize that no one is happy all the time we all have our ups and downs. I am sure that you have also heard the saying that God helps those that help themselves. If Going to Church, studying the bible and praying give you comfort continue doing those things. Sometimes antidepressants take more than a week or two to start working. Sometimes you have try different types of medications. See your Doctor if you feel your medication is not working after a month or two. Try getting some talk therapy with a counselor who will listen to what is bothering you. Also join a support group of some kind. Good luck to you.

Church is a good answer but make sure it is a church that you fit into otherwise they may bring you down as well. stay on our medication because sometimes it takes a few weeks to kick in. Then do what I did. Figure out what is eating at you and address it head on. Close unclosed chapters in your life and confront those who make you feel unworthy. When you lie awake at night and you mind races, get up, read a book or write one. Get out whether you feel like it or not. take a walk and get some sun. Talk to people..friends whenever you can. Know that no one in this world is 100% happy no matter what kind of front they put up. Know that heavenly father did not put you on this earth to be miserable but to appreciate all the blessings and beauty he has given you. Good luck.

Nothing is wrong with you, dear. You are just human. We all go through tough times. I know that this probably sound trite, but the hard times makes you appreciate the good times more, and it makes you stronger & more mature.

Is there something specific that is making you unhappy? Maybe you could talk to a good counselor (or your parents) and get some feedback. Also, eat healthy and get plenty of exercise.

God bless you! Remember, God loves you and only wants the best for you, even if it is not obvious to you at the moment.

tough question. maybe something's bothering you. do you have friends? you're living alone?

maybe you need someone to be with. or you might need to go out more often and try to mingle with others. praying and bible reading really help but we need more than that to become happy and contented. they will guide us but it's up to us how to use those virtues and knowledge we learned. try to reflect. maybe all you need is some time and a lot of thinking.

try not using you're antidepressants if they don't help.

I was extremely unhappy for years and tried to kill myself last year. All the antidepressants the doc was giving me weren't doing a thing. I ended up drinking (which was pretty dumb) and got worse. Please read my story here:

If what I said interests you, just email me and I'll share whatever I can to help. What I talk about in my story is a technique called cognitive behavior therapy. It literally saved my life (along with The Lord's help, of course).

What do you do for fun?
When you do it, does it make you laugh and/or experience joy?
If you don't have a positive answer for both questions, you might consider expanding your horizons.

God bless you, and don't give up.
