As long as she is healthy, age shouldn't be an issue. We have a rescued Brittany who was spayed at age eleven.

I got a puppy from the pound that had already been spayed. She was 3 months old. So I guess you can do it at that age. I also had a dog that was 14 when she had to be spayed. Because the doctor said she had female problems.

6 months is a good age to spay. Bitches spayed really young often get spay incontinence. If you don't want her dribbling urine all over the house I would not have it done at a very young age.

Puppies can be spayed at 8-12 weeks old, I believe. Most shelters will spay/neuter their puppies before they adopt them out.

In case you were wondering, kittens have to weigh 2lbs.

Most vets do it at 6 months though there are some that will do it as young as 8 weeks. Remember, if you wait until 6 months, they will not do it if she is in heat so do it as soon as you can.
