When joseph found out that Mary was pregnant he must have asked her whose child it was (as they had never had sex). Mary claimed that God was the father.

Is it possible that this was just an excuse she told joseph because she had been having an affair and didn't want joseph to find out?

It's God's child - thats the oldest excuse in the book!

If you were joseph would you believe her?

Oh so an angel visited joseph in a dream. What made him so sure that it was actually an angel and not just an ordinary dream?

The Book says that an angel appeared to Joseph and told him that what was happening to Mary was of God. Remember she was overshadowed by the Spirit of God and she conceived. Let me clarify, nothing sexual at all happened. During this entire time an angel of the Lord visited more than once to Joseph, to tell him that the baby she was carrying was of God, after the baby was born, the angel appeared and told him to take Mary and baby Jesus to Eygpt until those who seeked the child's life died. Joseph had no choice but to believe her because heavenly beings appeared to him and casted all doubt away. I mean if an angel appeared to you ...wouldn't you believe too?

Virgin Births like Alien Abductions are taking pictures up throughout usa of america. No, Virgin Births did not start up with Jesus they ensue in different mythologies previous to the single we've a good time.

Admittedly, I probably wouldn't IF that's all that happened in the story. Joseph had dreams confirming what Mary had told him. Also, this happened back in a day when people knew and respected the person they were prepared to marry. Joseph knew and respected Mary, and had no reason to disbelieve her (especially if her body attested to the fact that she was a virgin, if you follow my meaning, which, according to Catholic doctrine, her body attested to her virginity before, during, and even after the pregnancy. Is this possible? Not for humans, but nothing is impossible for God!

From an earthly physical point of view you are correct and right and it is natural to assume that. God is a Spirit and it was through is Holy Spirit that Christ was conceived. I have no doubt that Joseph received positive confirmation from God that would ease his concerns and skepticism. Man, Woman, every human consist of a body that is made from the sperm of man and the seed of a woman but inside this body is a spirit that God creates and places within that body. Jesus Christ was a form of God as is the Holy Spirit that enabled Christ to be born of Mary a Virgin without man's sperm. It is ultimately an issue of FAITH, you either believe it or not but for my part I do believe it and I believe also that God provided Joseph with the evidence he needed to believe.

Joseph was told in a dream to take Mary as a wife and that the child was the child of God.
Also, the translation of "Virgin" simply means "young, unmarried girl". It had nothing to do with her sex life.

Virgin births to Gods were fairly common. Zeus fathered a number of children by turning into various things, from a swan to a shower of gold.

By the way, the Immaculate Conception does not refer to the conception of Jesus. It refers to Mary's conception without Original Sin, so that she would be pure enough to carry Jesus.

From my understanding Joseph did not believe it and was going to leave her... but he had a vision from an angel telling him it was God's doing.

No I wouldn't.
But I must say, If we are going to question Mary, why not question the whole story.
So Jesus was a cool dude, how he got here isn't really the point of the story. Nor is the question "IS the bible historiclly accuate" What's important are the teachings.
Be cool to one another.
The ten commandments.
You know basic good guy stuff.
