If you are saved you know you are going to Heaven.

They just assumed that they Will go to heaven. Why? Because of our traditional churches' teachings that when people die they will go immediately to heaven, or to hell. But it is not! Read the bible. When they die there will come a time when they will be judged, if they are qualified to go to heaven, so be it. But if not they will have to wait for another chance.

Joh 14:1 "Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.
Joh 14:2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.

Rev 7:10 And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!
Rev 7:11 All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
Rev 7:12 saying: Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.
Rev 7:13 Then one of the elders asked me, "Who are these people robed in white, and where did they come from?"
Rev 7:14 I said to him, "Sir, you know." Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 7:15 For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His sanctuary. The One seated on the throne will shelter them:
Rev 7:16 no longer will they hunger; no longer will they thirst; no longer will the sun strike them, or any heat.
Rev 7:17 Because the Lamb who is at the center of the throne will shepherd them; He will guide them to springs of living waters, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.
Joh 11:26 Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die--ever. Do you believe this?"

Joh 3:16 "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Heaven and Hell are very subjective, man made concepts. There is nothing to suggest either really exist. They represent the extremes of what is available in our physical existence. I don't think heaven or hell fairly represent to us what is 'out there' when we die.

You have faith and understand that what you did here on earth was what is good in god eyes. BUT when you die your dead you do not go on living after death. Heaven is more symbolic it isn't a place . .

It is not merely faith or belief, it is certainty for we have His promise. God has sealed us with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed "You are my child. Because you know Jesus, you know me. I have placed my seal upon you that the world may know you are mine." Because of this we know his promise to bring us home is true. His seal is our "security deposit and guarantee [of the fulfillment of His promise]." That is why we know we will be going to heaven when we die.

2 Corinthians 1:20-22

20 For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.

21 But it is God Who confirms and makes us steadfast and establishes us [in joint fellowship] with you in Christ, and has consecrated and anointed us [enduing us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit];

22[He has also appropriated and acknowledged us as His by] putting His seal upon us and giving us His [Holy] Spirit in our hearts as the security deposit and guarantee [of the fulfillment of His promise].

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
NIV

John 14:1-7
14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going."

5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

They'll know if they are born again - and for that they must accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. Like Jesus has paid the price for you, but you gotta accept/acknowledge His gesture.
