That's the point -- it's hard to beat, if the box mix is prepared correctly. Homemade can come close or equal it, but very few homemade recipes can surpass it's equal from a box.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love to bake...and I love to make cakes from scratch. There's a certain satisfaction you receive when eating something you made from start to finish. And that plays a part in how something tastes. That's why a lot of people will say homemade tastes so much better. The fact that their grandma made it means more than if Betty Crocker made it.

My mother was an executive pastry chef at a high-end country club before her retirement. Her specialty was cake decorating and wedding cakes. She used box mixes because she said herself that you can't beat a good mix. She still swears by Pillsbury White Cake mix -- "with double the pudding in the mix." I really think she'll have that phrase on her tombstone - she's so funny! No one could ever tell that her cakes came from a mix. Besides, you can add so many extras to make the mix your own...no one would be able to tell the difference!

I genuinely ought to assert Pillsbury cake mixes - Duncan Hines frostings. Pillsbury cake mixes look to have a extra valuable texture - not such distinct "air holes" in the blend & i imagine they are large moist - alot have "pudding" in the blend - yum! also, Pillsbury truffles are with the help of a procedures the most acceptable! Beat out each of the others in a nationwide flavor try (purely some thing I examine in a cooking mag). yet once you've the time, make your own from scratch - and be particular you employ Cake Flour and in no way All-purpose Flour.

Dehydrated eggs and shortening vs fresh eggs and shortening.

Baking is a science and they probably have 100 scientists working on it all with PHD's. Your grandma's recipe does not have nearly that much trial and error. Also read the package in there. They put stuff in those boxes that are not fit for human consumption

I much prefer homemade...it tastes MUCH better than a mix. You must be doing something wrong if your home made does not not taste better...you probably just need to practice.
