Our society seems geared to push everyone faster and faster. Meanwhile, the time traditionally given to children (Three luxurious months in summer) is either stolen to keep them in inefficient schools even longer, or is filled with meaningless babble from TV, Radio, i-pods, etc. Does anyone still take necessary time to think about important issues, like what you want to do with your life, who is pulling the strings of this society, what you are truly good at, what is the basis of your religion, and does it really make sense, (Scientific Humanism is a real, if unofficial, religion, and is subscribed to by most who claim that there is no god.)

Wow. Well, first of all, thanks for the reminder. I spend alot of time in prayer and I absolutely insist that we all sit down together every night as a family and eat. No TV, no phone. The basis of my religion is Jesus Christ. I have gone thru too much in my life and have expeienced Him too many times to be foolish and stupid enough not to believe and follow Him. You're right, everyone needs to slow down and get back to the basics: Family, respect, moral values and God.

Sabbath (last Saturday). And I agree that people are too 'busy' and not calm enough.

We should all take time to contemplate. Thinking is a good thing.

I pondered whether or not I have grown spiritually. Also, I thought about the fact that Jesus is going to come, and I want to be able to meet Him with a smile and live with Him forever! I realized again that I need to be treating everyone kindly and in a Christlike manner, so I will be safe to save; safe to live in His perfect world.

On the drive home from school today... I was stopped at a red light and i started thinkin of my best friend I used to live with. We had no money, lived in a crappy town, both of us were single mothers but it was one of the best times of my life. We were both pregnant in the summer time, layin around in the kiddie pool, soakin our bellies together and drinkin some lemonade. We had nothing but we were just happy, hangin' out together. These days I live in Texas and she lives in Utah.... Things are dramatically better in some ways and in some ways worse because we live so far apart. Anways...just my little red light epiphane.

You bring up an excellent question. I did this as often as possible about 5 years ago and can not remember the last time I did or what I thought about. I do remember one time though that I sat below a very tall and skinny pine tree and just looked up and watched it sway. Very relaxing.
You have some really good points! Thanks.

I took some quiet time today. I was actually thinking about my problems and feeling down. Then I started thanking God for all that He has blessed me with as well as for the problems I don't have. The more I thanked God and praised HIm, the beter I felt. It was awesome! :)

Yes. I have many hours to sit and think about my life. I think about how lucky I am to be alive and have a loving family. They care about me and try very hard to always be there for me.I think about GOD and how he is always protecting me from evil and how he has blessed me with a life that was one of happiness & joy for many years. I am grateful for these things and try to give back by attending church as much as I can, when I am feeling well enough, and thanking the LORD for his blessings to me everyday..........

Seriously...the last time I had some quiet time was when I was on the toilet.

You're right though.....I get to where I can't function if I don't have some time to myself to think and reflect - on all the things you mentioned and some. It's like I need to retreat, plug in to myself, and regenerate.

I don't usually get a lot of time to think about my life but i usually think about it while i'm listening to music. When the music turns on, my brain just gets into thinking mode and i start thinking about everything

yea, wondering why people are so dumb trying to act funny in a party, at the theaters when everything is all quiet and them screaming and just yelling out stuff with their wannabe accents, etc. and especially if you are not like them and they are with you and it's like they are representing the type of person you are
