Because some people need it to maintain their morality. Atheists on the other hand, have shown everyone that you do not need religion or a God to ahve morals.

Whats the point? If you kept God/religion confined to your place of worship, whats the point?
Religion helps guide a person through life. Its what defines a person. It helps people make impossible decisions.
We all need something to believe in 24/7. Something to get us going in the morning that we know will be there when we go to bed.
If it were confined to the place of worship, people would be in church all day. Because fact is, everyone needs to believe in something, a higher power of some kind.

Lets say some omnipotent being came down and said, "Treat others the way you want to be treated", and a religion came about to worship that being. You've got no problem worshipping at church but on other days your setting up burning crosses killing people and raping them. Now if you worship one day and hit someone in the head with a bat the next your acting hypocritically. Living life the way your favorite omnipotent intended is worshipping. You can nott be both a christian and a heathen. So stop hitting people with bats!

Religion cannot be confined to "places of worship", because the real place of worship is not made of bricks, stone, steel, or wood. The real place of worship is the mind and heart of a person.

It is like the foundation of a building; the thing that you base your life and belief upon. Whatever is most important to you is God. How you relate to God (or not) is your religion, 24/7.

Wow! That's the best witness I think I've ever heard for religion!

Because religion shouldn't be about places of worship. Religion should facilitate your living a better life.

Because religion is married [heterosexually of course because we dont want to upset either!] to the government.

Everyone has to have their fingers in something that has nothing to do with either.

Religion should be confined to the church and the home, and maybe free protests but dont say hurtful things to other people because of a race, religion, creed, sexual prefrence, ect.

I say... we overthrow religions rights and start them back to where they had to hide.

I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST RELIGION JUST THE WAY IT IS CAIRRIED OUT.

DO NOT MIX THIS WITH HATRED OR DISCRIMMINATION.

Because how can you hold a system of beliefs (religion) to be true and not see the world from the perspective of those beliefs? In other words, what you hold as being true shapes the way you see the world. You can of course, lead a dual life, but then, either you are not totally convinced of your system of beliefs or you hold yourself above the beliefs (perhaps because they're too old to follow, or are to difficult to abide by).

You miss the whole thing if you ask this question. It is not a hobby.

Jesus Christ saved my soul from hell and I am just supposed to keep that confined to church?

How can I when the Holy Spirit is living inside of me and I just received the greatest gift ever?

It is my life, not a hobby. :)

Organized religion, with its buildings, litergy, ministers/priests/rabbis/shamans/ceremonies,books etc. have no involvement in my life at all. Yet, I am a very religious person. It isn't a matter of going to a particular place, at a particular time, and listen to a particular person, give you his interpretation of a particular book, in exchange for your cash contribution. It is simply a matter of you being true to your authentic self.

The ancient Greeks said that Man is a religious animal. I don't see that anything has changed.
