Their bedtime ought to depend on what time they get up. They need ten to twelve hours of sleep per night, which is lots more than most kids get. My nine year old goes to bed at 9 during the week. He can stay up to 10 or 10:30 on weekends, as long as he will be able to sleep in the next morning.

My 9 year old goes to bed at 9:30 on school nights (he doesn't have to be up until 7:30/8:00am). Weekends he goes to bed at 10:00pm. Summers he goes whenever he gets tired so long as he is quiet and in his room.

My 2 and 3 year olds go to bed 9:00. The 3 year old gets up himself at 7:30/8:00. My 2 year old gets up himself around 9:00am.

Some kids need more sleep. Some need less. Do what's best for your children and you.

My daughter is 9 and on school nights she goes to bed at 10, on nights that there is no school she goes to bed when she starts looking tired, or on her own before I tell her to. My child has night terrors and the doc.s all told me that the best way to deal with them is to let her get good and tired before bed so she goes into a deeper sleep when she does pass out. This has worked for her so far and I am not messing with what works. The other 2 kids I have go to bed by 9-10 everynight.

my daughter is 3 and she usually goes to bed by 10pm. I'm not very strict with the whole bed time thing since she isn't in school and can get up at different times. The thing you should be concerned about isnt the time she goes to bed but that she or he gets at least 10 hours of sleep each night.
