The '318' is your engine...one of the most common V-8 motors used in Jeeps, Dodge trucks, etc. Horsepower for your particular Jeep is 220 hp @ 4400 rpms and 300 ft-lb torque @ 3200 rpms. Your Jeep is not a racing machine, don't treat it like one. It is for 4x4 and pulling. If you race it, it WILL break. The 318 is not as reliable as the 'bulletproof' 4.0 inline 6. Oh, and your Jeep weighs in at 3,931lbs...way too heavy for 'racing'.

Actually, horsepower does vary, by rpm. Your peak will likely be around 220 at somewhere in the range of 3500-4500 rpm.
Your vehicle has a 318 cubic inch V-8, which at that time was one of the tried and true(or old, if you prefer) engines on the market. The Dodge trucks used them as the base V-8 for at least 20 years, and they were used in nearly all of Dodge's rear drive cars.
When Chrysler bought AMC, they owned Jeep. That is how the Dodge engine got into your Jeep.

haha, your horsepower doesn't change from 0-20, 0-60, 0-100. it is always the same unless you upgrade it or have mechanical failures that make it decrease.
yah, these guys are right, probably around 200 HP
