Whatever your ex may have put you through could be the reason why your heart won't open up. Your ex may have hurt you and you don't want this to happen again. But if this is not the case, well don't rush anything, love has its own mind and if it is meant to be it will surely happen. You say this relationship is different from what you had before, well maybe difference is good. But if you really can't see a future for the two of you, Don't waste your time on false hopes. Take initiative and make the move. Either way you know whats best for you, so search in your heart and make a choice.

I think you're afraid of another commitment that may not have a happy ending. You have to look at what you want out of the relationship and see if he has similiar goals. Things will work out if you both want it to. Don't worry about loving this new person because you should let it come naturally. It can take as long as you need. There is never a deadline. Even if he said he loves you it wouldn't mean that you have to feel the same way. It's not an obligation. Be true to yourself. If you're not feeling it you have the choice to go just be friends. Give yourself time and space if you have to.

I think that you should try to figure out why you are thinking about your ex. The joy of finding someone you like is that the new people you meet are indeed different. So comparing him to your ex is somewhat unfair to him. Give him a chance..and make sure you still do not have feelings for your ex. After all, you broke up with your ex for a reason right?

You have to stop comparing them. Of course they are different. But if you keep comparing the love you had for your ex with the new guy you will never really be able to open up your heart.

Some how, I get the feeling that you really are in love with your ex. Why else would you compare the two men? Believe me if you were truly no longer in love with your wrongfully betrayed ex, you could open your heart to the new guy, who you are probably hurtying by not opening it to him. But then girls like you like to be relationship cowards and hurt men. Correct, Miss Alford?

What's the problem....so it'll take a little longer to fall in love with the new bf. No big deal.

After 10 years of heartbreak from a love I never could have, I'd say that I'll never feel for someone the way I felt for her. It's a sad, but they that say you'll never love anyone like the first one you fell in love with.

"I know, I'll never, love this way again, but I'll keep holding on"

Why are you in the streets with your business? If you were really serious about this person you would not be going through all of these changes, there would not be any issues!

You come across as not being too sincere and not all that mature either.

sometimes it just takes time to be able to open up to let him in. Just because it is a different relationship doesn't mean it won't go well. I wish you luck.
