Generally adopting a kitten is between $50-$100, because they spay/neuter them first and vaccinate them. Older cats (which make wonderful pets, and don't have litter-box accidents!) are generally a little less. You can adopt at SPCA's, Petsmart and Petco, and if you search online you will probably find many rescues and shelters in your area.

Spayed and neutered cats don't act very differently whether male or female, and you should ALWAYS spay and neuter. So really you should just pick out a cat that you find to be friendly and loveable, and don't worry about the sex of it. :-)

I just bought my second cat. He was 115.00 dollars. I bought him at a reputable pet store. The first one I adopted from a private home, that takes in all kinds of cats, she was 75.00 dollars. My boy cat is like a kid with the terrible 2's the girl is much more laid back. Pick one that comes to you without calling it to you, that I think means that it wants you.

try your local animal shelter there are cats there that really need a home and i like male cats most because they are more personal to a female human
