Just going to church does not make you a christian. If you don't believe in the religion no matter how many times you go to church you still are not a christian.

This is a good question! To give what I believe will be a good answer, I will first need to be blunt. Going to church does not make a person a Christian.
The Sadusees went to "church". They believed in God. But Jesus was constantly at odds with them. I can same the same about the Pharrisees. So, just going someplace does not make it. And, we also see that believing does not make it. In James 2:19-20 we read (in the King James), "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" So we see that simple belief is not enough.
Now, I am not suggesting by the above quote that you have to "do" something to be a Christian. But, being a Christian leads to doing something. So, what is it that makes a person a Christian? Rom 10:9 states, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." The belief that makes a person a Christian is a belief that is acted upon. Rom 10:13 explains this. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
To be a Christian, you must believe and then call on Jesus to save you from your sins. You must understand that you have done things that displeased God. The Bible calls these things "sin", and that the penalty for sin is death (see Romans 3:23 and 6:23). Hebrews chapter 12 teaches that only blood can take away the penalty for sin, but because of our sin, our blood is not good enough. Only the blood of Jesus, the sinless Son of God, can take away our sins. Believing this and choosing to trust in Jesus to take away our sins, and calling on Him to do so is what makes a person a Christian.
So, going to church does not make a person a Christian. You must trust in Jesus.

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, but it does make you a stronger Christian, much as going to a gym makes your body stronger. You can do it without the gym, but it's easier and you get better results at a gym. It gives you the guidance that you need.

Going to church does not make you a christian...To be a christian means to be Christ-like. I have never read in the bilble that Jesus Christ went to church. He was always out helping others.
