Pts who are in kindney failure are very sick. They lose weight because they have problems with their appetite, some of them have chronic nausea and vomiting.
Some dialysis pts are on fluid restrictions. When you are that sick. your appetite is just gone.

When I lost my kidney function I lost about 15 pounds (it all came back and more after the transplant). Some weight loss is expected. But a person can also retain water.

To increase my appetite I tried different foods. I also made myself have soup to at least keep the vitamins up. But you have to watch that you don't start retaining water from the soup.

In general, the symptoms of kidney failure are the result of a build-up of waste in the blood and the gradual failure of the kidneys' regulatory functions.

Excess fluid builds up in the body because the failing kidneys are not producing enough urine. It can lead to a condition known as edema. This excess fluid causes symptoms such as swelling around the eyes, in the hands, ankles and feet. Fluid can also collect in the lungs, causing pulmonary edema.

If you have fluid overload, your blood pressure will also increase. This is because your blood contains more water than normal, which increases the pressure in your blood vessels.

When kidneys are damaged there will be a slow down in the production of the hormone erythropoeitin, this will mean the body does not have enough red blood cells. This causes anemia, a common complication of kidney failure. If we don't have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body, we become weak, cold, tired, and short of breath.

Since the symptoms of kidney failure tend to appear slowly, over a long period of time, they are easily overlooked, or thought to be normal responses to the stresses and strains of everyday life. This may delay diagnosis and treatment and increase the damage to the kidneys.

If you experience any of the symptoms of kidney failure listed here, discuss them with your doctor:

a metallic or other foreign taste in your mouth
tiredness
feeling cold
high blood pressure
insomnia
itching and dryness of the skin
loss of appetite or nausea
poor concentration, confusion, forgetfulness
poor sex drive
restless or cramped legs
shortness of breath
swelling in the hands, feet, or face (especially around the eyes, when you just wake up)
urination problems, such as foamy or bloody urine, more or less urine than usual, or a change in how often you urinate

Kidney failure is often preceded by employing a era of ailment, and would not ensue in one day, except something poisonous became ingested . . What makes you imagine it became kidney failure? A wager? Or did a vet allow you to recognize so. something that can kill dogs and cats purely about that instantly is ingestion of automobile antifreeze. Has there been any mendacity round , or leaking out of a automobile? they could't face up to ingesting or licking it up, and it does extreme, and frequently deadly harm very instantly. I heavily doubt it became purely kidney failure; there ought to were indicators displayed in the previous lack of existence which may have alerted even the most dense of dogs vendors.

It usually puts weight on ppl because there is no way for the excess fluid to leave thier bodies. How many times a week do you recieve dialysis.

Yes, but you could also gain weight because your kidneys will cause water to be retained in the body.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
