It's not wrong, and it's not a sin either. God never said that he wanted you to go to church. Staying home and reading the bible is just as good of a church as any. Your learning about him and worshiping him, so why should it matter where you do it, you're still praising the lord.

I don't think its wrong - Many will probably disagree with me but as long as you do unto others, and lead a good life and follow the other basic tenants of God (thou shall not lie, cheat, steal, kill etc .....) , then I don't think you necessarily need to attend a formal mass. I didn't attend church on a regular basis for awhile through my late teens and mid 20's - but eventually found myself missing something. I now have a church that I truly enjoy and many friends that I would miss if I wasn't a part of it. If you go to church just because you "have to' not because you "want to" your going for the wrong reason. The time may come when you are ready and want the feeling of community you get within the right church. Until then - visit a few different ones if your so inclined - and just see what is out there - and then only go when you feel its right...

No! Going to church can sometimes turn one away from God, or lead you astray. A lot of churches and pastors don't know God anymore than a drunk off the streets.
What's important is that you know the truth, and god can reveal it to you at home through prayer and bible study.
However, if you can find a church you feel is right for you, then it would be helpful to build your foundation off of.
I do believe reading and understanding the bible, and growing with God in prayer is more important than getting all dressed up to attend a church service and trying to keep up with the Jones.
I personally attend church every week, but only because I found a church that feels right...I tried many before that seem to turn me away from God, but this one God lead me to. So, ask God to lead you to the right church and he will.

Why would you not go to a church if you belive in God? It is a wonderful place where people who share a common set of beliefs can get together to worship God and share in the joys and sorrows of everyday life. I don't know where I would be without my Church. To a Catholic "Church" is the people. My friends that I have made throughout life at Church or in Catholic school have been my most supportive and long lasting friends.
Jesus--my very best friend is waiting for me at any Catholic Church at any hour, any given moment of every day.

No because they're not the same thing. In our society, we say God and church are the same, but in actuality, God is who we think s/he is. I believe in God, but I stopped going to church because it seems like the people who I see in church acts differently outside of church. It seems like going to church once a week makes them have a stronger faith in God than those who doesn't. Sorry, I'm rambling now...

The Bible says that we should not forsake the assembling of yourselves together (attending church) Christ loved the church so much that He died for it. I think it's pretty much a given that we attend church. How can you love the Head (Christ) and forsake the body (church) Church is the place that we learn and grow in Christ. There are not only sins of co-mission (doing something you know is wrong) but also sins of ommission (not doing what you know to be right) I'd strongly advise anyone to attend church on a regular basis. It helps you even more than you realize.

Accepting Jesus Christ is paramount.
Merely believing in Him is but a start. The demons, also, believe.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
(That one indicates there is a timeline, by the way, - another topic)
Church attendance provides some vital elements and we are encourged to do so in Hebrews 10:24-25
10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching
Exhorting one another. You can't do that alone.

Not at all, most of the males in my extended family have decided at some time or another that they still can believe in God, but that they do not have to attend church. I prefer to live life the best that I can and I do not need someone telling me their interpretation of the Bible and forcing me to believe their point of view.

Wrong? yeah, but not a sin.
A good church can help you to grow, it's an entire community of people you can get to know that have the same beliefs as you. It'd be a shame if you didn't go to church, but only a shame for yourself, coz you're missing out! lol
