Why do we sometimes cry over something sad?

why do we get sad on something but then you dont know what that sad thing is?

i think we just need to clean out our tear ducts. and that gives us a good reason.

Well the first question is because that's our way of dealing with sadness and the second question I am not sure of. It is a good question. I often wonder that myself.
