That happens to some people. Just give it a day or two and if it still bothers you call the doctor that gave you the shot.

Tetanus shots are pretty harsh, I had to get one after a nasty snake bite in 2002 and I was pregnant at the time. But if the swelling does not go down in 24 hours, it's best advised to call your doctor just to make sure there is not an infection at the injection site. Until then, good ol' Tylenol (not Advil, as it's made from aspirin and will thin the blood making the bruise look worse) should help ease the swelling and pain, as well as a cold compress every hour for 10 minutes at a time.

I can relate. I cut my finger really bad washing dishes and they insisted on giving me a tetanus shot. I am a nurse and know not to get one of those in my arm, so she injected me in the hip. Lord! It swelled up about the size of a large apple and was red and hot. I am not a whiner. and work in a hospital. That darn shot almost put me in bed. I am not kidding. The doctor in the ER told me it was normal to do that. I thought I had some kind of freaking man eating bacteria in my hip. It took about 5-6 days for it to go down. I cannot imagine having that in my arm. Hang in there, it will pass soon enough. Probably would not do any good to put an ice bag or hot pack on it. Take Acetaminophen for the pain.
Good luck.

It's normal for your arm to swell and hurt after a tetanus shot. Try ice for the swelling. Also take ibuprofen for the pain which will also help with the swelling.

I had the same problem and the lump and bruise lasted 6 weeks on my arm! It was too weird. Use some ice on the site and if it gets worse, call your doctor. Otherwise, the lump and swelling is a kind-of normal reaction. Definitely tell your doctor about it though, because your reaction next time might be worse and at least you'd have a record of this time.

Any time you get a vaccination like a tetanus shot, your injection site will get warm and sore. It is common reaction. It means that the vaccination is working and is stimulating your immune system. You can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help with the pain and swelling. (Follow package directions.)

I have had the same reaction. Take a over the counter pain/anti-inflammatory agent and put warm moist heat over the injection spot. If your arm is still feeling stiff tomorrow, contact the physician that gave you the tetanus shot.

Yep, this happens. Place a warm wash cloth over it and move your arm gently many times a day. The nurse should have told you to do this when she gave you your shot. Didn't you get written instructions from the nurse? Well if it get worse, call whoever gave you the shot and ask shat to do.

It shouldn't. Tenus shots are the most innocous! Something is wrong. Algeric reaction. Bad vaccine.

If it doesn't clear by tomorrow see ANOTHER doctor!
