"Were these early emmigrants justified in dispossession indigenous populations?"

Of course not. Today we have just now decided to call such actions "eminent domain," the removal of people from their homes because the government says so. So do we of today think that is ok? No different really other then the original peoples depended on their land for survival and most of us today don't. So it was more of a death wish placed upon them.

Lot of peolpe came to escape religious proscecution and others came to start a new life, some were sent as punishment for crimes committed in Europe. Being sent to the colonies was a common criminal sentence in England at the time and of course some came as slaves both black and white. Though most whites were endentured slaves or servants who could conceivably work their way out of slavery.
