While it would be rather greedy of the bridal couple to EXPECT a gift, it is always a charming gesture to GIVE one.

It became classic for the bride's mum and dad to pay for the marriage. no longer purely the dad or mum. It is going decrease back to the time (no longer so before) even as maximum females did not artwork outdoors the living house and went from their figure's living house to their marital living house. youthful brides did no longer have the aspects of pay for a wedding ceremony. That custom all started replacing around the 1970's & 1980's even as better youthful females worked and were better self sufficient before getting married.

His gift is the wedding, and that's gift enough
if he should choose to buy anything beyond that it's his choice

we got married 2 weeks ago and my dad's gift to us was paying for the entire reception...which we were not expecting. he had already paid for a ton of other things as well. we obviously did not expect an additional gift from him.
