Yes it is.

I feel sorry for Karl (see Karl's answer)

The message of salvation is foolishness to those that are perishing.

No! None of that.

I just read where some nitwit says that the New Testament was written over 2,000 years ago. The New Testament was written in about 1640 AD; and it's 2006 now. That makes the New Testament 366 years old! NOT ONE WORD WAS WRITTEN BY GOD! Just a bunch of hacks, with the same goal as all other Christians: to spread their religion at all costs. So, don't you think they would stretch the truth? God never SAID anything, let alone jot it down in a book called THE BIBLE! There's more fact in Playboy Magazine than there is in the Bible. So, it would make more sense to call Hugh Heffner God and thump Playboy Magazine as being the word of God.

im a christian.

i think that there are many who ask, or wonder to themselves, is the Bible really true?

the new testament have been written over 2000 years, and the old testament is even older, how do we know that it is true? well, i dont know either.

the books/gospels written in the new testament are written so that we may believe in him. if you have read the Bible, you will notice that some events written in the gospels are similiar, but written from different point of view. They are not the full biography of Jesus, it is about his work on earth.

Jesus did not have much time to sit down and write scriptures. He went around doing miracles, healing the sick, and procliaming the good news.

you must understand that the Bible is made up of various stories. YOU, choose what you believe in. NOBODY can force you. everyone has that freedom. Nobody can take away your freedom of choice.

Mark writes to the Jews, trying to prove that Jesus is the Messiah.
Mark write to the Gentiles, the suffering
Luke writes to the Greeks.
John writes to everybody, how Jesus is Life Giving.

in the modern world, it is about who you are, and which gospel appeals to you.

as for me, i believe in the Bible, real prayer and going to church. i also believe that God is real, and that he is everywhere.

it really depends on your faith in Him.

I believe much of what is in the Bible is inspired by God but also that all of it was filtered through and subject to the minds of the human beings who wrote it down.

Also, I do not believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God but rather a series of stories and teachings designed to assist people at a certain level of spiritual awareness to reach a higher level of spiritual awareness.

Much more could be and has been written but you have to Become more to receive more - which is part of the story of parable of the talents.

Interestingly the Jewish faith that the books that make up the old testament originally belonged to before the bible was put together, do not see them as being the word of God.

It is only the Christians who appropriated them for the bible who see them this way.

This fact alone should tell you something.

No. I believe the bible was written during an opium party, and they just wanted to see if they could pass it off as "the word of god".

No. It was written at various times several hundred years after the alleged events decribed therein by a number of other people, and was all based on hearsay and conjecture, as was the Qur'an and that other piece of fiction, the Book of Mormon..

Yes, the Bible is the word of God. His son died for all of us so that we could have a relationship with God.

Yes, absolutely.

However, let me add that one doesn't need to believe without a doubt to be saved by the blood of Christ. The important thing is to follow Jesus and admit to him that you have some doubts about things and trust him to help you understand and believe more fully later.

I believe that there are large parts of the bible that could not be translated correctly. So, if I am right, everyone that is attending a christian church is being taught incorrectly
