The fat part is optional, so I’ve avoided that, but as LadyMamolade said, loosing your hair to that Samurai style haircut baldness pattern looks pretty nasty. Compared to that, shaving your head starts looking good. Shaving your face on the other hand is a hassle, and the completely shaved Kojak, Humpty-Dumpty look is boring, ergo the goatee.

LOL ive noticed this so much too. i think the goateekind of gives their face a shape and they shave their hair to be like stone cold.. kinda makes them look like a tough guy or maybe theyre just balding

They know the pattern baldness is not attractive so they shave it. But then they don't want to look like Mr. Clean so they grow facial hair.

What else are they to do? I think it looks cool, and would do the same if I started losing my hair. The goatee kind of sets things off.

thats funny cause its true. But to answer your question well you already answered it. For that instant tough look. cause others would portray them as someone whose bad in a criminal sense. Someone who doesn't want to be bothered with. Hope that helps you out.
