Advantage you can get over the counter, Advantix you cant, your vet has to provide it.

I have tried both, and I have to say, advantix was the absolute best, I dont know why, it just was.

In my final atempt I simple bombed the house, washed the dog, and so on, but it didnt work until Advantix.

The problem is, it's so hard to completely get rid of fleas, and when they cant get on the dog, they get on us.
I have to say, the flea problem was killing me, and they carry nasty germs and stuff, it's horrible.

But if you do it properly, you can get rid of the fleas in your pet and home for the season, then re-peat every season needed.

Advantage - Great flea control, but does not do anything for ticks.

Advantix - I don't know much about it, the clinic I work at doesn't carry it because the vet wasn't impressed with the research. He won't carry anything he doesn't have confidence in.

Revolution - great flea control, great heartworm preventative, doesn't work very well for ticks.

Frontline - IMO it is the best out there, but if you live in an area that is really infested with ticks, you might want to include a Preventic brand Tick collar.

If you want the best Flea and Tick control I would use Frontline. It's made by the same company as Advantage. I've seen people use Advantix on their dogs and they've complained of hair loss in the area they've applied it. I used Advantix also and it's happened to my dog.

Advantage does heart worm and stuff, Advantix does fleas and ticks. Don't use it for paralysis ticks though (my dog nearly died), only brown dog ticks.

Advantix claims (as does my vet) to kill AND repel fleas. Advantage only claims to kill and keep killing fleas, so essentially they can come back and die slowly. My dog has never had fleas, even before using Advantix, so I can't guarantee that it actually works.

I don't where the other answerers are getting their info, but here's the difference. Advantage treats FLEAS and K9 Advantix treats/kills FLEAS/TiCKS/MOSQUITOS. :) I used Advantage on my cats & dogs, but then we had a tick outbreak in our neighborhood and the dogs were bringing them home. So we switched just the dogs to K9 (it will kill cats, so becareful when you apply it to your dogs).

I don't mean to scare you but I know someone who had put Advantix on his puppy and it nearly died. I would used Advantage
I've used it before and it works great. Even though Advantix is supposed to be for puppies I wouldn't use it.

ADVANTAGE IS FOR FLEAS AND ADVANTIX IS FOR FLEAS TICKS (REPELS) AND MOSQUITOES

(FRONTLINE IS for fleas and ticks..but the ticks have to attach to be killed..Hmm makes no sense)

If your dog is a puppy then give him the K9 Advantix...and advantage for adult dogs. I hope this helps...

Revolution. It kills fleas, ticks, mosquito's and protect against heart worms-no need of the heart worm pills- and if your animal has any skin allergies it should take care of that too.
