Anyone who saw Horizon’s program on Global Dimming must now realise that we on Planet Earth now have about 25 years to take action. Global warming is in a very serious advanced stage. Science has now shown that the Global Dimming effect is a temporary mask, slowing down the warming. Temporary is the vital word because as the climate change effects of Global Dimming take effect, and the Monsoon rains fail, the sudden increase in forest fires pushes the CO2 levels to a point of no return.

International Government action is vital if we are to stop the chain reaction.

Global co-operation & technology transfer will be essential to prevent the growth rates in China, India & the whole of Asia from swamping the plant with CO2. They are all very hungry for success & energy is a prime ingredient. China however, may be persuaded to even lead the changes LED technology would give them huge markets.

We have the technology, with commitment and level headed co-operation we can survive e.g.

Reduced CO2 / hydro-carbon consumption from more efficient use by industry Tax incentives needed.
Automotive high percentage of petrol is used to cool the engine ceramics have been here for years but no manufacturer wants to be first to invest Government schedules and incentives needed.
LED lighting is now available & improving fast 40% of USA electrical consumption is used for lighting. Cree have just received a huge USA grant to improve the technology further.
Domestic heating look how Scandinavian government regulations have cut the domestic energy consumption with high insulation building standards. All EU governments could ignore the political lobbyists from the building industry and just implement the same changes surely that is a vote winner?
Solar & renewable energy has to be the long term solution.
Hydrogen production from solar power & wind generation many vehicles running for years in USA have proven safe Hydrogen storage only water comes out the exhaust.
If any country does not co-operate then the worlds consumers will have to boycott the products that come from those sources.

A massive effort of political will by the global population is the answer start the lobbying process now by gearing up the media that you use or perhaps just tell your friends & all write to your MP, copy your MEP the USA President etc. etc. (as if he knows)

First of all, according to current technologies, humans can't change nature. So don't even think about solving global dimming. Also global warming causes global dimming, while global dimming slows global warming. However, if you stop global dimming, there will be hotter conditions, but also drier conditions. Right now, the world is getting warmer and more humid.

Like global warming, it has little to nothing to do with people. There are far greater forces creating these phenomenon than man.

Man can't cause or stop the sun from fluctuating it's output, man can't cause or stop solar winds from stripping the top layer off our atmosphere, man can't cause or stop volcanoes from erupting and spewing multiple tons of toxic dust into the atmosphere. These forces are far greater than you or me spraying a 13 ounce aerosol can in the air, yet environmentalist chose to blame us for the normal cyclical changes in the climate.

Global dimming is politicians and environmentalist setting us up for the next crisis. When people figure out that global warming is a natural occurrence and when it begins to correct its self, they are ready with "Global Dimming - The coming of the next Ice Age". This will insure that they can continue eroding our rights in the name of "saving the planet".

So long as the earth continues to spin, global dimming will always be a problem for people with lawnmowers that do not have headlights.

drastically reduce the amount of gasoline cars we drive and be more energy saving, such as turning off the lights, etc, which would otherwise release co2 into the air. by the time most people drive more energy efficient cars, such as hydrogen cars, the amount of co2 taken in by trees and other plants will be more than the amount of co2 released into the air.

i do not think it will ever be fixed unless the Earth fixes itself we will have to deal with this problem maybe slow it down or get used to it
