You must be talking about Witness.
First of all, movies are often not the best source of information, particularly fictional movies. Witness is a good movie, but it's a story. It's fiction. It shouldn't be seen as a reliable source of information on a subject anymore than the Craft should be seen as an informational film on Wicca.
Second, no the Amish and the Jehovah's Witnesses are not the same thing. Completely different denominations.

No. The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Amish are two separate communities, both culturally and spiritually. The Amish community separates itself almost completely from "modern" living: no electricity, no cars, no telephones, no modern dress, no photographs (including movie cameras!). They do not join with other Christians in worship services, keeping only to their own groups. They do not proselytize. They are total pacifists.
JW's completely embrace both modern technology and dress, though they do try to dress modestly. Their services are similar to most Protestant Sunday services. They are world-famous for sending out missionaries. I don't know if they are total pacifists or not.
The movie you saw was called "Witness". It was about an Amish boy (and his family) that were caught up in a police corruption case, when the boy accidently witnessed a murder. Harrison Ford's character tried to protect the boy and his family from his own commanding officer, who was involved in the plot.

JW are not Amish. Amish are a very Godly group of people who want to live a Holy Godly life without the necessity of electricity and other modern convenience. I live near them and they a wonderful people. Jw's on the other hand are a new religious group that has their own bible, prediction of the end times at least a dozen times. If you would like learn more about this group goggle or yahoo their name..you will find the most credible people are the X-witness that have left this group..and that group is HUGE!

Noyt even close...Jehovah's witnesses don't believe Jesus was the son of God...they believe he was just a man. The Amish are staunch in their beliefs concerning the Trinity...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
