When you get braces, they don't hurt while they are being put on at all. But after a day or two, they will start to feel minorly sore and your teeth will hurt you when you are eating. This only lasts for a few days and then you will be fine. They also feel sore every time you get them tightened.

I recently ggot braces in late april. They don't hurt at all getting put on, but I woke up the next morning and my teeth were so sore. It hurt to eat anything hard for w whole week. Results vary on certain people. I'll have mine for one year. the traditional amount of time is 1 1/2- 2 years

they hurt for about a week. During the first few days you can't really chew, so you'll have to eat very soft foods. After that they get better. When you first get them tightened (get a new wire) it hurts but after a few times it doesn't. They sort of pull at your inner lips but you get used to it. They're not as painful as people say. If you're really worried, ask for invisalign.

A little bit. It's not unbearable, but the orthodontist will tighten them every so often and then they really hurt for about a week. For the most part they're fine. Just stick with easy food (soup, yoghurt, etc) when they're painful.

well, the first day when you get them on, it feels kinda sore but on the second day, it really starts to hurt. Don't worry, you will get used to braces. Trust me my smile was worth the agony;-)
wish you well!

Yea, it hurts, but it's bearable. You can't eat solid foods for a couple days. Each time you get them tightened it hurts the same way. I had them over 20 yrs ago though - maybe they make them better now!

yes, my daughter got them about 4 mths ago and her mouth hurt pretty good. she never missed school and she took ibuprofen every 6-8 hrs. that helped. use warm salt water to help heal the sores that they cause. oh, her mouth was sore a couple days... now they really don't bother her too bad. good luck!

I'm not gonna lie to you.
Yes... for about the first week and then each month when you go for an "adjustment".
But in the long run is it worth it?
Absolutely.

Painful --no...more like uncomfortable. First few days are an adjusting time.
