I've had the same impression that you have from my experience with law enforcement. I worked with a female law enforcement officer for a few years and was bossy, mean, power abusing, and disrespectful to not only me but others.
However, she was only one woman who was that way. Many of the other female officers were kind, courtous, and common. It really depends on their upbringing and the situation.
Lets just face it, many people are attracted to the law enfocement profession because of the urge to have power over others. Maybe the women in question have had a bad upbringing where they were often neglected or something psychological that made them control freaks or power hungry. I just don't know, its probably a case by case situation.
Just know that all female cops aren't bad, only some.

The fact is female Officers get a lot of crap from people and unfortunately most of the time we just have to sit back and take it. I'm sure their are a few bad Officers out there, just like in any other profession, unfortunately they give us all a bad name. From my experience a male cop can say/do the same thing as a female Officer and he is looked at as being assertive and just doing his job while the female Officer is looked at as being a "b**ch". I think a lot of times the people who say these type of things about female Officers cant handle having another woman in authority tell them what to do and may just be feeling a little inadequate!!! Give Officers a break, we see and have to deal with more **** than most people can even comprehend. Just be happy we are out there dealing with the crap so you don't have to!!! And if you think you could have been a cop but say ya just chose not, I doubt you could have been able to handle it!!

It has been my experience as a female police officer that men gave me much more respect than women. Give identical traffic stops on a man and a woman, the woman was much more likely to lie, swear, disrespect and otherwise cause problems. I used to say women liked to talk themselves into tickets.
A word of advice - you are much more likely to catch flies with honey than with vineager. If I stopped a person for a minor violation I normally wrote a warning citation, but they the ability to change my mind into giving an actual ticket.
I have been know to tell a mouthy violator that I tend to base my decision on a warning or a ticket on their attitudes.
I don't care who you are or how educated you are, if you violate the law and then try to give me crap while I am trying to do my job - YOU GET A TICKET. Duh!
Oh, and that is Officer B*tch to you.

It's just an opinion and a guess but I think maybe they get used to having to act tough and hard because they're in what has traditionally been a men's field and maybe they've had problems with men looking down on them and acting like they're not capable and so to overcome that they've developed an overly tough attitude.

I can understand where your coming from, but you gotta think...women in law enforcement period have to put up with 10 times as much crap from men officers and idiots in general just because of the fact that their women. so I can see why they'd be a bit "bitchier" I personally don't blame 'em.
