Go to my profile, look at my previous answers. There is a question in there about OTS and such. It may help you somewhat. The main thing is what type of degree you have, which branch of service you are looking at, your GPA and physical condition. My answers are honest and unbiased, if I can be of any help just email me. Good luck and AIM HIGH! Thank you for wanting to serve!

I think you would have to go in as an enlisted soldier, then go to Officer Candidate School after basic and AIT. I have never heard of anyone going straight in as an officer without doing ROTC in college. You should get a decent enlistment bonus since you have the degrees and I would definitely try to be an officer because an E4 doesn't make that much. Neither does an LT but the pay increase a lot faster and a lot higher in the officer ranks than in the enlisted ranks.
Also, I have never heard of anyone going into basic higher than an E3, so thats kind of odd that the recruiter said you could be an E4...

College degree holders get automatic promotions to E-4 (Specialist/Spc.) if they join ENLISTED BUT WHY DO THAT with a degree???!!
You can go as an Officer(O-1) higher rank, better pay, better treatment. See a OFFICER RECRUITER for admission to Officer Candidate School(OCS) since you are still a civilian who has finish college.
After you complete the 14 week school you receive a Commisssion (O-1) 2nd Lt. well Good Luck to you!

Go in as an officer for sure. You'll be gettin better benefits than just an E-4. Depending on ur degrees you'll start as a 2nd lieutenant or higher. Remember if you start as an E-4 you'll have to gradually build urself up. Anyways they usually pay off loans if you join as an officer.

You cannot enlist as an officer. You can go directly in but you have to join a ROTC program. This would have been a program would would have taken in college. You would taken specilezed military classes along with your degree. You would also have attended a specialied basic training course. The best thing you can do at this point is to ask your recruiter about the "green to gold" program.

The only educational benefit for which an officer qualifies is the Montgomery GI Bill. An officer does not qualify for the army college fund or student loan replacement program. Also keep in mind that student loan repayment counts as taxable income.

It is better to go in as an officer because you will get a higher pay grade. But how are your leadership skills? You will go up the ranks quick if you have great leadership skills even as an officer. I know a Col. that makes $8,000 a month now and he is retired.

Your recruiter is trying to screw you. With a bachelor's degree you qualify for the officer's programs and you can get paid more. Not to mention you get treated better............
Tell your Army recruiter to stick it.........
Join the Navy.........You get to travel the world and our technology is far more advanced.
