What do you think about outlawing traffic in the downtown area of major urban centers?

Smog kills as surely as cigarettes. Let's get serious about fixing this problem. Exception to this rule would of course be public transit, emergency vehicles, any others?

sounds like a good idea, a lot of college campuses have done it, and off campus "downtown areas"

Clean Air Act or Law be passed to probihit cars emitting enormous amount of smoke from entering highly urbanized areas. Likewise, electric or battery powered cars be encouraged for use in urban areas.
