No, I asked a similar question to this one today. China has been predicted to take over the world leadership role that the USA has due to Bush's foreign affairs failures.
We saw this just today with China's move to handle diplomatic issues with N.Korea.
I think this is the first step toward China assuming the new world leadership role.

the U. S. will stay because the international's Superpower for the foreseeable destiny. even possibly over one hundred years. the in basic terms distinction is that the U. S. will be sharing the status as Superpower with international places like China, India, Brazil, and in all likelihood a extra Unified ecu. akin to even as the chilly warfare became happening even as the Soviet Union and the united states shared the status as Superpowers of the international. for sure, if we come into contact with sensible extraterrestrial beings, then that ought to replace each and every thing. For the extra constructive... or worse.

No. I really think that the US slide began when our oil production peaked in the early 1970s. Lucky for us, the USSR was in worse shape and we simply had more money to spend. American hegemony is on the decline (as is our culture in general). Nations like China and India will far suprass us. Just look at the economic data that shows which countries are actually producing goods of significant value for export . . .

The answer to that question is unsure as for we truly don't know what other sountries are doing at all times. Sure, we can monitor some activity in other countries, but we can't monitor it all. Who's to say that China isn't working on nukes, or former USSR for that matter?? N Korea is starting their process of defense as well.
We will continue to remain a superpower, but we may have to share that title with others in the near future.

It is inevitable that China joins us as a world superpower. They have been positioning themselves, as you say, economically, and I expect it to happen within the next 5-10 years. As far as the most powerful force, what do you mean? Will we have the most powerful military? Obsolutely!!!

America will no longer be the worlds only superpower not because others are going to join it but because superpowers are a dieing breed. With global relations, the fates of other countries are tied too closly to identify one as "super" eventually however we will form a superplanet.
Superplanet GO!!

Absolutly not. America, as powerful as it is, still has competition. China is indeed going to grow and expand in world power. It will take years but its going to happen. We need not kid ourselves with an arrogent attitude most Americans believe in.
Your completely correct, it'll most likely happen in our lifetime.
However, I don't believe it will effect much. Trade will remain the same, international tension will remain the same, diplomacy will remain the same. I doubt much would change because of China's dominance.

China also buys all our debt. It's only a matter of time, but I think it's better that way. You can't keep a super power in check if you don't have power yourself. Who knows, maybe it will be for the best. I don't think we'll have to wait long to find out.
