Yes, because most types of alcohol (beer, wine, malibu, ect) contain quite a bit of sugar which creates a great environment for bacteria to spread and possibly cause an infection.

If you must drink alcohol, stick with distilled, unsweetened liquor such as straight vodka, gin, and tequila.

Don't forget to Listerine, Listerine, Listerine after you eat or drink anything!

I love the logic behind this question.

1) Drinking alcohol is either good or bad in itself. Of course, circumstances do have some effect. Obviously, it is a bad idea to get really drunk right before you get married or pick up your boss.

2) Some might question the necessity or the sanity of getting one's tongue pierced although it doesn't bother me except I can't help thinking that it is a health risk which probably a little alcohol would minimize

but

are you just looking for an excuse to get drunk and act like a wild demon or whirling dervish? Enjoy yourself but don't get yourself killed in the process.

I guess it depends on what you are drinking. If you mix it with sweet soda drinks then the sugar in them cannot be good for the short 6 to 8 week period post insertion of the piercing. Bugs like to breed in sweet stuff and therefore create an infection where your piercing might have to come out. If it was straight alcohol then it is a sanitiser. But, drinking is not good for your health anyway :(
Best bet is to talk to the person who did the piercing. THey should have given you an information sheet on the post procedure do's and dont's.

Did your doctor give you instructions on how to avoid infections? Or probably it wasn't done by a doctor. I would think no ethical doctor would do that to a person. See a doctor and find out how you can avoid infections. I don't think drinking alcohol matters at this point, unless it is to forget what you've done. Sorry, I don't mean to be judgmental, but maybe you don't realize how disgusting tongue piercings look to other people.

Let's hope you are not a diabetic. Your tounge is a muscle, just like your heart, and can essentially have a "tounge attack", which is equivalent to a heart attack, in that clots can form and reduce circulation in your tounge, so take good care of it.
Alcohol has an extremely high sugar content, which is a perfect environment for bacteria to grow. At least be sure and rinse your mouth out with water occasionally. A little peroxide wouldn't kill you either(just don't swallow it, rinse and spit), just to rinse out the new piercing.
Let it heal completely, don't change the metal bar too soon.

The piercing itself would not damage in any respect, the needle is going proper by ability of each of the muscle fibers. For some days after, your tongue is swollen and that's puzzling to talk properly. you should devour delicate ingredients and ward off dairy and some different issues for extremely. that's not too undesirable, although, and it heals extremely quick because you're piercing a muscle. I bumped off mine because i chanced on that i replaced into biting down on it and placed a crack in the teeth on one in all my the front teeth - no good!
