If you are not in this country with proper permission, then you can be deported despite your marriage status. The best thing for you to do is to start getting your papers in order and get legalized. I work with illegal immigrants frequently and have for the last thirty years. Marriage does not guarantee that an alien in this country without proper permission may stay.

Yeah, I knew a guy who married a girl here and was deported. He had to wait a while to get his papers in order before he could come back. Eventually he did though, so now he's here legit.

If you've been here illegally of course the only way to legalize to to marry a US citizen.
You won't be deported unless you really don't know anything about your "wife". Make a list of her favourite dish, ice cream flavour, side of the bed, job specifics, underwear, family, birthday, etc, etc. and you'll pass the test. I know tons of people who've married for papers. All of them are legal and compete on par with Americans on the decent job market.
BTW, I married for love and INS won't give me papers. Honesty doesn't pay back, lying does.

Yes. If you commit any crimes that is subject to deportation. In some cases, you can be stripped of your citizenship if you are a naturalized citizen.

Generally speaking, see above answers, aside from criminal activities etc. you will not be deported.

Of course, that assumes that you were married IN THE US and do not leave the country.

In practical terms, your illegal entry into the United States has placed you approxiately 3 years, oh, I mean 990 days, ahead of my wife, who married me in another country.

Unlike you, my wife refused to break the laws of the United States to come here or stay illegally.

actually yes! I have a friend whose hubby had been here married to her for 20 years! And they went thru his information and deported him! He had the wrong day for his arrival date! Now he must wait 10 years to try to come back. They are both leaving the USA for good, and I can't say I blame them!

Yes, your sure can! And, I hope you will be! Just marrying an American citizen does not grant you automatic legal status. Bye-bye!

Actually if you entered here illegally and you went to file for residency they might just send you back home. Hopefully you have already filed your necessary paper work to start the process.
