Thye are the same. No matter the type of cardio exercise, it's the intensity of the workout over a period of 30~60 mins that counts. By intensity, it will mean the achievement and sustainement of your target heart rate in the said period.

I think that jumping rope and running are about the same cardio wise.

I find that I would rather jump rope then run. I find it more enjoyable. I can change the tempo, see if I can skip backwards, crossovers, on one foot, then the other, I can even skip around the block if I like... Yes I definitely prefer skipping to running!

I think cardio running is better because it helps with your endurance.
