Yes, they do make good pets. Mine is 4 years old and I got him from a ladly who said he "demanded too much attention" and didn't get along with her other dog.
Yes, he loves to be groomed, and seeks that attention. He almost became ferocious when I babysat another dog for the weekend - yet, he tolerates my cats. Go figure?? Nothing is better than a tiny Yorkie kiss!
They do have inbred traits and characteristics. I have placed the AKC site below with information on the breed.

Yorkies make great pets!!! I have two teacup yorkies (Cuzco & Pacha). They are really obiedent dogs, and they dont shed!

Yorke's make good pets if you have time to spend with them
they do not like to be left alone and can be very destructive.they are also very hyper also good watchdogs,although they are small they bark at noises and strangers.a real plus is they do not shed

they're adorable and yes they do. my mom had one and it was a baby and she help it in her palm and it jumped out while she was standing up and it was a baby. and it died! i couldnt believe it they're so tiny you have to keep an eye on them they're delicate lol.
