That's a good question....why he's not around the tour. I at least expected to see him doing some commentary, interviews, etc at the tour. All I've seen is some pre race production stuff.

With his working knowledge of the current riders it'd be nice to hear what he has to say about team strategys, etc.

Maybe he'll get more involved next year. Maybe even see him bring his own team to the tour.

He is busy being paid for appearances and the Tour more than likely is not willing to pay him.

He should be there to support the team as he is still technically an active member of Discovery per the contract with with the Discovery Channel. The main reason they sponsors the team.

He was there with the team for the first day (prologue), and he might be there for the last few stages. He came back to the states, and rumored to have been riding in southern California last week...

Technically he is still a training captain of the Discovery team, but he deserves to take some time off, especially since he has been fighting the doping allegations...

He wants to try something new since it's already been proved that he owns the Tour de France seven years in a row. He's going to try running marathons now.
