Paedophilia is seperate from homosexuality. Homosexuals like ADULTS of the same sex. A homosexual is no more likely than a heterosexual to molest a child.
Secondly, we can't blame just celibacy for the molestation. Plenty of men each and every day molest children (and sometimes women though they are much less likely to do so). However, there are a few things to consider:
1. They have easier access to young children. Up until the recent scandals, everyone trusted their clergy. They were servants of God, who would think they could do something so atrocious?
2. They get more press coverage BECAUSE they are clergy. You will most likely never hear about little Johnny down the street who was molested by Uncle Dave because nobody cares. They're just average people. But where there's a big scandal with the Catholic Church trying to cover up many of these situations, THAT gets coverage because it's much more interesting than the boy next door.

Have you ever bothered to look statistically at the percentage of celibate men who are pedophiles compared to the population as a whole?
You would be SHOCKED to find out that heterosexual males who are married are the biggest offenders----by far.
I caution you to do some research on the subject prior to throwing around erroneous information. And I always wonder why homosexuals do not get out there and tout the numbers that prove the homosexuality and pedophilia are two totally separate issues.
On another line of thinking; most of what happened between priests and young boys in the USA actually was not pedophilia at all. It is an entirely different category called Ephebophilia.
Get educated.

It is to preserve a long tradition of homosexuality in the Roman Catholic Church. It actually has its roots in Greek/Roman culture which is really what Roman Catholicism is. The Romans saw the writing on the wall and simply traded the Roman Empire for the Holy Roman Catholic Empire.
This isn't a criticism of modern Catholicism but rather all Christianity which had its ground rules set by 1200 years of Roman Catholicism.
Christianity is just one of the destructive perversions known as Religion which are just a type of Machiavellian device to keep the masses hypnotized and the power concentrated in the hands of a few.
As far as homosexuality in general...scientifically speaking it is found in virtually all vertebrate populations in roughly the same ratio...5 to 20 percent of the population. It seems to be a part of the vertebrate brain.
The fact that someone would want to be celibate for any reason in today's society is an obvious red flag that they have some serious issues with sexual development. So yeah that population is no doubt going to have a higher percentage of deviants.

well, do you think a non-celibant man wouldn't ever do anything to a little kid??? you're just stereotyping; there are plenty of people who have the urge to do unnecesary and poor-minded things out there in the world, both celibant and non-celibant. Most celibant men stick to their promise of being celibant; it's just such a big deal when they break that promise that we hear about it. Non-celibant men do the same thing...probably more times. So either way, your child is going to be at risk, and there comes a point where you have to trust someone.

The problem is not of course the celibate priests, monk, etc. The whole notion that you would turn children into the care of a third party not matter what their calling is is rediculous. What would make a family so stupid.

Well, lets see. If your "straight" do YOU have sex with little girls? This IS NOT a silly question, but a serious one. Do you? Probably not. The same goes for homosexual men. We DO NOT LIKE BOYS. We like MEN. Grown men who are our age and can speak about things we understand and like to talk about. Saying molesting boys is a "homosexual" thing is a smokescreen the catholic church uses to sidestep the issue of pedophilia. The fact is simple: They had preists that were reported for almost 25-30 years that they moved from congregation to congregation and DID NOTHING TO STOP THEM FROM MOLESTING little children and ruining their lives FOREVER. NOTHING. Why? Because THEY SIMPLY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE PARISHONERS BUT ABOUT THEMSELVES AND THE "HOLY MOTHER CHURCH" period.
So if a straight person isn't into sex with a little girl because he's straight, and a gay person isn't into sex with boys because he's gay, who is into to sex with children? PEDOPHILIA'S. These are sick individuals who probably were molested themselves as children and instead of getting help, they just "pass it along." You know, I can understand and sympathize with them being molested as children, I genuinely feel bad for them, however if your a diabetic YOU DON'T GO TO WORK AT A CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

Because if someone is celibate they do not have relations with anybody including children. Any time someone dedicates their life to overseeing children you have to worry if they are pedophiles. Priests, teachers, camp counselors, boyscout leaders, etc...

if you repress any normal, natural behavior (which sex is), then the outcome has no choice but to be deviant behavior. this needs to be realized and then catholic clergy should be allowed to marry which would stop most of this madness. what difference can it make if the clergy is married, their job is to help you with your spirituality. lets just go right to God ourselves and negate the need for pastors, priests, and the whole lot of them.

convinced he can. He ought to ought to admit the sin, for sure, of pre-marital sex, if acceptable (if he's a widower or something then there is no longer something to admit). some converts (i.e., Espicopalians) with households have become clergymen in the Catholic Church. i believe that is fairly uncommon, notwithstanding.

It does seem odd. I was talking to my friend about that the other day. Why do we even have that? Why can't they have fun? (with adults not young children)
