Some high energy electrons get past the screen (Beta rays) and can do you harm. Get back at least 5'. The bright lights and flickering could harm your retina.

The ultraviolet rays and the microwaves from the screen emissions can damage your eyes. You may not go blind but your vision will certainly go blurry from trying to focus on something so close to your eyes. The same goes for computer monitor screens. You should stay at least 18-24 inches away at all times.

You won't go blind .. but it will reduce the functionality of your eyes. You will need to get glasses.
Your best bet is to not sit so close to the t.v.

Not blind, but maybe affects ur eyesight a little depending on how long and how near u sit. Later u might find it hard to read in normal light.

No you dont get blind, what happens is you put a strain on your eyes and sooner or later your getting glasses.you should always stay atleast 6' to 8' away from the tv.... LOL ROB

There is a small amount of radiation omitted from the CRT but really not enough to do much damage. It can hurt your eyes if they are not given the opportunity to focus on far away objects too though

Most of us sit at a desk in front of a computer all day and we are not blind.

I don't think you'll go blind... but it's cetrainly bad for your eyes and will cause headaches

no, its a old myth that was around for along time. usually when children sit close to watch, its because they are near-sighted.

No your parents don't want you to look stupid sitting so close to the television thats why they made that up.
