Catholic and christian organizations have for many years been mollesting and raping young children in their so called " houses of worship"

This has been very damaging to children and I beleive in fingerprint checks and extensive backround checks on these pagan establishments , this will make sure that our children are safe.

The catholic churches have supported their priests that rape and mollest children and rarely condemning it. What can America do to stop this? If you ask me I would say tax the churches because they operate like a business and make backround checks mandatory.

If a church is cought in a sex scandal the chruch should be closed down permanently.

It sounds like you're being a little prejudiced here. Yes, priests and ministers have molested and raped children. So have teachers, neighbors, and sports coaches. Are the numbers disproportionately high among the clergy? Back up your claims with statistics. Second, whether or not you believe in Christianity, churches are indeed places of worship. The quotation marks are insulting. Likewise, I think you offend a good many pagans by somehow confusing them with Christians. As for fingerprint and background checks, do you honestly think that the people who committed these crimes were already registered sex offenders? How would that have helped? And many priests don't have more contact with children than do average adults. Maybe we should fingerprint everybody. Of course, if they're working closely and frequently with children, then background might indeed serve a purpose. Just as anyone who has a job working with children has a background check. The Catholic Church has acted shamefully in trying to hide the crimes of its priests, but at least I think that will be different in the future. As for taxation, churches are by legal definition non-profit. But even if they weren't, what does non-taxation have to do with child-molesting? Finally, it's wrong to punish an entire community of people for the crimes of a single person. And how would that solve the problem? Does it magically make child-molesters disappear? Would you consider closing down a school permanently just because one of its teachers molested a student? No, you would punish the teacher and attempt to make the school a safer place. The same should be done with churches. Try being a little more sensical and a little less prejudicial.

It's not done because society believes that Priest are called by God and any prior wrongs they have done are forgiven. They don't condemn them for being sinful. All men ( & women) are. You have to special calling to preach the word of God, if you don't you are known as a false prophet, unless you are something else in the church.

If a Catholic Priest molest children I don't think they are just looked over. The church is always responsible for the people they have in them. The church has to deal with issues within and priest can be thrown out of a church. They have to deal with it even according to the Bible.

I don't know about all churches or denominations but my denomination runs checks on ministers, as well as camp counselors or other people who are going to be working with children. Churches have been working to protect children. You might be interested to know that the statistics show that most sexual abuse takes place by a family member.

I never thought of that but it is a brilliant idea! Everyone else gets backround checks why not them? They shouldn't mind unless they have something to hide. Very good idea....you have my support.

Most of the churches seem to just want to sweep the problem under the rug and pretend it isn't happening.

It would be an admission of past guilt, and would lead to legal liability.
