Are we saved by faith alone, or faith plus obedience? And if we're not saved by obedience, then how can we lose our salvation by not obeying God?

We are saved by faith and a living out of that faith. This means we must continually try to be obedient. Unfortunately, human as we are, all of us fail at some point or another. The important thing is that we keep trying. We lose salvation, not by failing to obey but rather by failing to want to obey. That's turning away from God and from his love.

Love your writing; however, your content is very rational.

God reveals and man observes, and at his point, you are observing. And observation will not answer your question.

So let's start again: What does God say about salvation? Pretty big question, maybe we should start with what is called the believer's freedom:

1 Cor 10:23-24 with emphasis on verse 24.

Now you know our freedom. What does that have to do with salvation? Here is the first step of a very long journey.

It begins with God, God filling his promise with Jesus (God helps/saves/delivers); God raised Jesus from the dead (our hope for eternal life); and finally Jesus returns.

You use the word "save" when it means "made whole". Faith/believing makes you whole, not obedience. We already know what we must do (obey), remember freedom. Disobedience does not take away being made whole, it means we used things not for the good.

But now we are back to salvation. What did God say about salvation?

If you think that man can observe God using the scientific method, you are claiming a ladder to reach the moon. You will need a better tool, the Christian bible.

Where in the Bible does it say Salvation requires lordship? I'm not familiar with that...

If obedience was required for salvation then salvation would depend on our actions. That would be a works salvation.

I understand salvation to be a free gift alone. I don't believe that we can lose our salvation no matter what we do.

Christ died that all my have salvation.
2. Salvation is by faith alone.
I believe that light will illuminate when I flick the switch.
3. Faith involves obedience.
The light illuminates only when I make the effort to flick it on.
4. John 15:1-17 Don't take my word for it, read it yourself.

SALVATION come's in TWO-PART's:

1. YOU get Born-Again (Spiritman RECREATED) by Accepting JESUS CHRIST as your SAVIOUR. This is TOTALLY FREE.
2. YOU work out your own SALVATION, after you get SAVED.

Confusing???

1. Getting SAVED require's NO WORK and NO OBEDIENCE other than Asking JESUS to come into your HEART and SAVE YOU. YOU don't even have to quit SINNING to get Born-Again.

2. After you (a Spiritman) get Recreated and are HEADED to HEAVEN, you might just need this kind of SALVATION:
A. Healing
B. Deliverance from SINNING.
C. Deliverance from POVERTY.
D. Delliverance from Physically Dying (Death).
E. Deliverance from attack's of the Devil.
F. So on and so on----get the Picture???
If you excel in over-comning any or all of these Curse's and Sin's and Darkness, you have effectively made JESUS your LORD over any or all of these thing's, and you have to WORK at IT.(Read your BIBLE, FAST, PRAY, attend Gathering's and Assemblie's of the Body of Christ (the CHRUCH---it's not a building) etc, obedience is required to obtain the SECOND PART of our SALVATION PACKAGE.

The only way to LOSE your SALVATION after you are Born-Again is to WALK AWAY from GOD on PURPOSE, knowing what you are doing. Baby Christian's cannot commit this SIN, it is called HIGH TREASON and to be ABLE to commit it you have to GROW in CHRIST to a very HIGH LEVEL of Christianity then turn about face and walk back into the WORLD completely, on purpose, not wanting JESUS, HEAVEN, or any thing else to do with GOD no more. Very few Children of GOD commit this sin. If you still want to go to HEAVEN and be witlh JESUS and miss HELL, YOU have NOT COMMITTED IT.
Yes, it is called the Unpardonable Sin.
Being disobedient after we are saved will bring down curse's (you reap what you sow)on you, sometime's more so then the LOST People reap. Hope this helps.

Salvation is a free gift because God gave man free will. You have to make the right choices in life to earn salvation. Will people make mistakes? Of course.

Non-believers always say the following two verses contradict each other, and for this reason argue that sanctification (good works) is necessary for Salvation. But James is not talking about how God justifies man, but how man justifies man. He is saying one can not prove their faith to another without some form of works for CHrist and repentance. You can't be a true Christian and be unrepentant and not even do what Christ tells you, it makes no sense. James was probably referring to the fact that Romans of the period were private Christians, that is they never practiced their beliefs except at home and on their deathbed.

Ephesians 2
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

James 2
14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

True faith is believing the words of Christ. If you follow just the words of Christ you are doing well. If you reject His words and you begin to lose your faith this will condemn you. Jesus said he was the way, the truth, and the life. Salvation only comes through Him.

Salvation is free, try Jesus.
