My engine has the fallowing. Holley 670 cfm mechanical secondaries and choke. Edelbrock performer intake. HEI 50,000 volt distributor 1 5/8 headers. RV camshaft and 1971 351 heads. Engine has been refreshed 1978 block. Whats your guess on the horse power. I also would like your opinion on camshaft choice. Either the RV cam or my isky 221 duration with 496 lift and 108 lobe serperation. I need the most torque and power possible. I would like to drag race my car.

I'd say you are looking in the upper 200s or low 300s for hp, as listed, but your torque is likely higher than that, and with a broader peak. This set up will give you good pull off the line, but will leave you short at the end of the strip. Go with the lifted cam for a little bit faster response. Good luck, and I recommend bracket racing to start.

I'm with seahawk. As far as 69 Mach 1 and Cleveland heads being big block???? Clevelands aren't even in the big block family. Well, lets just say its tough not to comment on that but I will bite my tongue this time. I will answer this very simply, if you would like to drag race this car, then everything, and I mean everything should match. Intake, exhaust, cam, c/r, tranny, stall, gears, tire size, body weight, and so much more. It usually costs you less to do things right the first time. When some guy tells you that 1.73 rockers are the answer to 'your' engine, and he knows little of it, well I would take it with a grain of salt. I would suggest if you are not that mechanically inclined, to either get a set of good 'How To' books on what you want or take it to someone qualified to answer your questions. If you were to bring it to my shop I would want to know at the very minimum, what kind of car, 1/8 or 1/4 mile track. Tranny type, bracket you would like to be in, engine, tranny rear end gears, tire sizes. Budget? Are you on a tight budget or do you run a full program with several cars? To me, it sounds like you have a pretty close to stock engine, and if you put it in a very light car, you just might have a little fun. I would say, take it to the track, ask people for advise, try different things and document every change and the outcome on the time slips. Soon you won't be guessing on how to fix things, you'll know.

Are your heads Cleveland or Windsor? That makes a big differance.Cleveland heads are HUGE big block heads.Your horsepower rating depends on a lot of things.
My 351 Cleveland (not stock) is just under 500 H.P.It is possible to get that kind of power from a Windsor.with the right build.Go with 1.73 roller rockers to help your valve train. Most of your torque will come from your heads.(bigger valves) The more air and fuel in and out the better.

According to my book, you'll have about a 9 to 1 compression ratio. With the Isky you'll be around 270-280hp.
