In Christianity, if there is only one God and one Bible, why are there so many religion denomitations? Which one is right?

This is an unanswerable question because it all depends on the believer. Some will say they are all correct. Some will say they are all INcorrect, and some like me will say that there is no right or wrong answer and that whatever you believe you can believe. I myself am a Catholic (same as Christian but older), but I accept all of other people's beliefs, I treat them no differently than the people of my religion.

Why are there so many?
2 Timothy 4:1-3 "...the time will come when men will not endure sound doctrine, but will heap unto themselves teachers after their own desires..."

Which one is correct? I suggest you be as those in Acts 17:11. The Bible calls them "noble" because they received the word eagerly and searched the scriptures to find out if it was true.

If you want to know more or if you wish to find a bible-based church, may I suggest you try the Church of Christ. Most congregations will give you Bible answers to your Bible questions. They will give you the reference and will let you read the answer from your own Bible.
If you want a Bible Study Course, almost any congregation will send you a course through the mail. It will be absolutely free. They will not ask for any payments and they will not try to sell you anything. They will not ask for donations.

These courses are also available on-line at many sites. Try the sites below.

I hope you find a good church that teaches the word of God!

Thank you for these good questions. I will pray for you!

Every religion thinks it has the world figured out, but the truth is that nobody really knows anything. Nobody knows whether God exists or not and nobody knows how the world is going to end. That's why creationism, in any religion, is theory rather than fact. Until someone proves or disproves the existence of God, the world will never know the truth.

Good question! It's been my experience that as long as there are alot of people, there will be alot of denominations. Have you ever listened to people tell you about something they saw, like a accident or something like this? Everyone tells you something different. People are all different, and they all see things differently, so there you are, different shoot offs of denominations.
We have one God. I work hard in Sunday School to teach what the Scriptures say about Him, and try to not put my opinion in with it. The Scriptures are very clear about Him, and yet some will interpret it different, why? Because they do. Many people have the wrong idea about God, and we just try to teach what is correct about Him.

Well, first of all you have to ask yourself "why does there have to be only one right answer?" The denominational question is easy, G-d cannot appear to different societies at different times in our history to reach the same ends. There were a group of nomads in the desert that He singled out to be His people so He came to them in a certain way and gave them certain laws to live by that would help them (hence Judaism); in another time, in another place, there was a society of warring pagans that He appeared to and gave different laws that better suited their cultural needs for survival (hence Islam). In all monotheistic hebraic-rooted faiths there is but one G-d, who comes to different groups through different mediums. Think of G-d like a plant, with the different prophets being different branches and the different religions being different leaves.
And of course in Christianity there is only one Bible. In Judaism there is only one Torah, and in Islam only one Qu'ran. It all depends on which outlook/vantage point your taking.
As for which on is right, that's all up to you. Don't stay in the religion you were raised in just because it's what your parents taught you was right, find out for yourself. Different religions offer up different paths to salvation. Don't let that bias your decision though, it could lead you to doing things for the wrong reasons. If you went into something trying to attain something, then your motive is that attainment. Instead make your motive to be the best person that you can, to help those around you in need, to rectify the flaws in youself for the sole purpose of being that better person you have the ability to, and make the world around you, to some extent, a better place by the time you leave it. If you take that as your motive, it doesn't matter which one is right, you're still doing the best you can to do the best you can. What more could any god ask of you?

I believe that all of them are right. They are just different interpretations of the same thing. Catholics took over the pagan holidays and made them Christmas, Easter etc. If you compare most religions side by side, you will see that at the most basic level you will see they are the same. What you need to decide is what package you like. I chose witchcraft. It is one of the most primitive religions. It goes back to the cave men. It also has no prejudice against others. But you need to look inside yourself. Don't let anyone try and discourage you on your trip.

Before the years involving the 1500's, everyone who was christian was catholic(the Universal church) Once King Henry the 8th and Martin Luther protested for their reasons they formed their own denominations(Anglicans and Lutherans) Then many other groups formed for their reasons. Hence you have the word Protestant which is any chritian group other than Catholic. They are protestors of the Catholic Faith. Ironically, King Henry was given the title "Defender of the Catholic Faith" by the Pope at the time and Martin Luther was a Catholic Monk. So both were Catholics.

As with any family, their are cousins and many gentics of say, a grandfather if he had say, five or six or seven sons; and if they had 7 sons; then a single man might have 49 (for instance) offspring famileis; this is a very overly simpliedfied explaiantion of what happens in most any relignion over the spance of time. is there one true Church? well, the catholics will say that they are it, the orthodox will say that they are, the church of christ will say that they are; most other of the 'cousins' will say they dont care; they fact is that the Bible says that anyone BaptisedBaptistseinhname

Its more than one way to cook a chicken. It does matter how we cook as long we know we gonna eat it. Like you and I can read the same poem and I might get a different meaning from you but we both agreed that poem was well written. You may have many different religion but one fact stand out. They're trying to educate you about God. Every religion speaks His name and glorified Him. Many people I worked with went to different colleges but common goal was a degree to teach. It does matter were you get God teaching from as long as you get it.

Wow, you have just managed to ask one of the most pondered question by everyone that claims to be agnostic, atheist, or "religious." This is a question, I personally, can't answer. I know my beliefs, and I know exactly why I believe them, but I can't tell you what to believe. I wish I could answer you. If you're searching for something, start challenging a few different areas of faith. I know I believe what I believe because I have tested it, and found it to ring true. Try doing the same. Good luck. :)

Remember being told there are three sides to a story, What you believe, what someone else believes and somewhere in between lies the truth. I believe the truth lies in the similarities of all religions. The main similarity is there is a higher power than ourselves and that is God.
