May be he wanted to have a long conversation with you.....and you threw him off by saying "I was.....nice looking" so he just blabed out those old 'BEAUTY' quote to keep the conversation going....

It means we may not agree with other people or even your own opinion of how attractive you are. People have different visions of what they perceive as beauty. I happen to like what I consider cute girls over typical beauty queens. There may be a subtle characteristic that I pick up on. It may be something unique to you. Other people may not see it the same way I do. But when my eyes behold you, you may be the vision of my dreams.
Superficial people might consider it just being polite. Like someone saying...maybe not so hot, but she has a great personality. But that's because they have a brainwashed, narrow minded, cookie cutter view of what is supposed to be beautiful. I know what attracts me, and if no one else agrees, so what. At least I won't have to compete with anyone :)

beauty is in the eye of the beholder means that not everything is beautiful to everyone. you might think some guy is the hottest thing you have ever seen and your friend might think he's ugly. just like he thinks you're hot and you think you are nice looking.

The truth is: Ok you may think your breasts are too small or too big or the wrong shape. A guy might be thinking they are the hottest ones he has ever dreamt of touching. You think you should have green eyes instead of brown and he is thinking that the way you look at him is the best thing in the world. So do you get the idea. Just because you see it on TV doesn't mean that is what guys want.

The true meaning of the phrase is that beauty is defined by the one viewing it. Like art, one person's beauty is another person's ugliness. Beauty is subjective, the person you love may be the most beautiful person in the world to you despite what others may feel.

Either what the first guy said or that he truly feels you are beautiful and that you should feel that way about yourself as well. Like I am not a "hot girl", but my man loves me for who I am and thinks I am beautiful...therefore I feel beautiful.
