Many of the State parks along the Oregon Coast offer camping at very low rates. Tent camping, for example, costs $16 per night at Cape Lookout. That's less than the cost of the gasoline to drive there.

Give yourself some peace of mind and use the state park camping facilities. Your family will be more comfortable with restroom facilities, too. Also, you will be respecting the environment of the beaches.

State park camping ground offer a certain amount of security. Camping independently any place you like really makes you more vulnerable to being molested or attacked.

However, if you are driving for very long distances and are unable to drive further, you have the right to remain in a place long enough to get your strength back. Just be careful of the nuts and vandals!

if it is a state owned beach, it is illegal.... and if its privately owned its trespassing, the only legal camping on the beach in oregon would be at campgrounds that have beachfront camping available, most of them being ran by the oregon parks and recreation department which allows camping for fairly low costs..
