What are the phases of the diet? Did find this diet effective?

phase 1- no fruits, pastas, breads, fatty meats. it really limits your fatsda anc carbs. you can only eat good carbs? id go to the website or go buy the book to get the exact list of things you can and cannot eat. this phaase is 2 weeks long and average weight loss is 7-13 lbs.

phase 2- you loose 2 lbs a week on this stage. and you can start eating whole wheat breads and pastas and fruits. agasin... get the exact list.

phase 3- maitence, you start this phase when youve reached your goal weight. it keeps you from going up or down. its basically how you should live the rest of your life.

yes. i think this diet is effective. give it a try!!!

I lost 70 pounds on the south Beach Diet more than 2 1/2 years ago. I was a size 18 and now I am a 5/6 (sometimes a 4).


Phase 1 adjusts your metabolism. You get rid of all the "bad carbs" and even some of the good ones for two weeks. You also learn how to eat healthier in general. The idea is that our body's use of sugar is messing up our use of insulin. The carbs turn to fat. During phase one, you learn to love the wide range of vegetables on this earth and eat lean meats. No breads. No fruit. However, you can eat 30 pistachios at once!

During phase 1 I felt a little weird for about a week. Other co-workers who did the diet (an also lost ALL theire weight!!!) told me that was normal -- don't quit just let the body adjust. I also drank so much water, it was unbelievable. You lose a lot of weight, water weight AND fat. I lost 8-9 pounds. some people lose 10-12. Exercise is important if you want to really help your metabolism. I did light treadmill several times per week and walked daily.

After two weeks, you go to Phase II, which I did nervously. You slowly add in fruit (yes -- canteloupe, granny smith apples, etc.; no -- raisins, water melon. They are too sweet). You are able to eat whole grain breads, etc. This is the phase where you losing about 1/2 to 1 pound per week. If it's 1/2 pound, that's good. One week I lost nothing, and I realized it was because I had become hooked on nuts -- I was eating pistachios and peanuts like they were going out of style. I had to ban them. I did drink red wine and light beer.

One day, I was down to 120. I said, "Wow! It worked" That's when I went onto Phase 3 -- trying some foodson the foods to avoid list and listening to my body. For instance, tortilla chips are not on the OK list, but I love and eat them with salsa. However, I am starting to go overboard on them, so they, too, will soon be banned. You learn to watch what you eat and notice the food's effect on you.

One thing I love about South Beach is they say NEVER go around hungry. Since I love food, I can relate to that. I'm not good at eating tiny, tiny portions. I like to know I can eat when I want. In fact, if you don't eat on the diet, you are in more trouble than if you eat a lot! It will make you start getting the cravings for the dreaded sweets, which I used to love but now don't need. I enjoy dark chocolate or sugar-free jello with berries & whipped cream for sweets, usually.

It really worked for me. If I could stop eating rows of Chips Ahoy and a 1/2 gallon of milk, anyone -- ANYONE -- can do it! Good luck!

PS: Use a firming lotion as you lose weight.

I ordinarily have a bowl of all normal cereal (whatever that doesn't contain corn syrup, excessive fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, partially hydrogenated oils, synthetic colors, and synthetic flavors; materials I preclude total) with vanilla soy milk. Nonetheless, you could additionally do a seek for "vegan egg recipes" or "vegan breakfast recipes". At the same time I've not tried it, scrambling and stir-frying tofu could be a good replacement. (I stir fry tofu with a bit of olive oil and bar-be-que sauce and either put it in a bowl with frozen veggies that I cook dinner simply long sufficient to get thawed, or in a pita with the veggies on the facet.) in my opinion, I've no longer been a lot on diets. The proposal of intentionally depriving myself of good things just seemed foolish. However, I selected to be vegan seeing that I felt called to it after studying of manufacturing unit farming and what it does to animals, to people and to the atmosphere overall. Now, I eat better than what I ever did when I at meat and did not care about what I ate. I hope this has been of some help.
