I don't know about witch-hunts and all, but people (well, some of us) are very particualar about being politically correct. There are some people that are racists straight up--you don't need to look hard for those anyway. Just be careful, because like it or not, you DO have to think before you speak. What's worse, putting a little more effort into not offending someone, or being permanently labeled in a person(s) eyes as a racist?

Political correctness requires dishonesty, especially if you are not black or Jewish. But then, again, if you are black and Jewish, you have other problems.
it is, however, socially acceptable to make mean comments about the Mexicans. But, not cool against the Puerto Ricans
Italians are fair game, as they are supposedly all Mafiosi. Do you buy into the stereotype of the New Jersey Italian? What about Alan Alda? Italo=American and still lives in NJ. Not dumb at all.

a lot of them (meaning people in general) of bricks on their shoulders and would pretty much be offended with a look or make something out of nothing.
Blow it out of proportion.
Everyone has a right to their opinions But we must first think before we speak because of consequences....
Not having to do with racist but prejudice and all that
take the Dixie Chicks freedom of speech true but look what happened because she opened her mouth...consequences....do what you feel and say what you want but be careful. It's just the way it is.

I think it's true that a lot of things are considered racist that are just stupid. If you're not racist you shouldn't have to be scared fo being called one, but everyone always is.
I just thought to try something- honky.
Hmmmmm

So true. But let a Black or any other minority person make fun of a White individual and is not racist, but tolerable fun.

what race are you? would you feel insulted if someone said a derogatory remark about your race? i'm not saying you'd beat them up but it might bother you to some extent. Also, some people just like to use being a victim of racism in order to be mean or get their anger out. i know people who used to lie and say someone called them a racial slur just so they could have fun beating them up. i am half black and half white, so i've been called a "honkie" and a "******", both have hurt my feelings.

Everyone is allowed to their own opinions, even if they are uneducated and unsubstantiated. That's what America is all about. But if you open your mouth and put something out there, expect to be disagreed with sometimes.
