Durex are the safest you can buy and they come in all sorts of varieties as well, their site offers you a guided tour, you can find out about different condoms, be they plain, ribbed etc. And find out a lot more abour safer sex.
I guess in your case you wish to avoid a pregnancy and these are really the best in my book. And no i don't buy them for myself if i volunteer for an AIDS charity.
You can also buy spermicide cream if worried the condom might split although it is not all that frequent, KY jelly helps prevent tearing.. The site should also advise you to only use one condom at the time as too many people still believe in using two at a time to be extra safe when in fact it puts them far more at risk!

The one I use every time is Trojan-Enz. It is effective, it has Noxonol-9, and has the resivoir tip to aid in keeping the condom from breaking and to catch the semen.
