You can call your local police on the non emergency number to find out if there is a police officer in that area at the time. If you are in your car you don't have to roll your window down all the way just a crack. You can also call the number and ask them to relay to that office who is trying to pull you over that you want to go to a lit area with other people around because you do not feel safe.

You can ask to see the officers badge as well. If it is some one else being hauled away I don't know what you can do, but be a witness in case they need you.

Depends on the circumstances. Is he trying to take you into custody? The only circumstances in which an officer has to identify himself as law enforcement is when they are taking you into custody (arrest, pulling you over, etc) or when they are giving you a lawful order to enforce the law or keep the peace (telling a group of people to disperse or leave an area). Otherwise, the officer doesn't have to reveal themselves as a cop (undercover work being the best example of this). Even when directly interogated, a police officer is not lawfully compelled to reveal their identity as law enforcement.

It is illegal for a cop not to identify himself/herself as a cop. You can take a cop to court for that and he/she will get in trouble. They can easily lose their job if they don't do that. These are people you are supposed to trust, so if they don't do that you obviously can't trust that cop. Be very careful. My brother was in a very bad situation because of cops. The case was taken to court. He was being chased by an unidentified vehicle for no reason. Watch out for that as well. Take care!

Police must always identify themselve and show I.D. upon request before taking action. That is why uniformed policemen wear a visible badge. This is the identification.

Police in Pennsylvania do no longer have to knock on your door before entering if they have a search warrant.

No I would call 911 and wait for the cops to come and then you will know for sure just like if you don't feel comfortable when you get pulled over you can call 911 and tell them where you are. that you are being pulled over that you are going to go to the nearest gas station or public place so they have record of why you didn't pull over. That is the safest thing to do.

It depends on which state you live.. But where I am from it is the law they have to identify themselves beyond all doubt that they are an officer of the law. If they do-not then they are in big trouble when it comes to court.

Don't open your door or pull over in the dark. You can call 911 and tell them your situation and then they can tell you whether or not the person at your door or pulling you over is real or not. They have to call in to report a traffic stop.If none was called in ask them what to do.

Cops break the law all the time. It is up to the citizens to bust them.

I'm dead serious when I say this, but if you are concerned, call 911...they can assist you to determine if the cop is legit and he hasn't identified him/herself.
