Theres alot of choices. If you want quality choose Norton, if you want cheap/good one go with Mcafee. Those are the two leading ones, there a lot of others out there. However Norton Anti-Virus is the most trusted one

Symantic is a system resource Hog
the best (even in the freeware version) is AVG
do the research at sights that are trying them but not selling them for your most objective views

there is no single best one.
i use NOD32 myself, but i wouldnt recommend it for personal use
