It's up to you, but I'd watch out for sharp objects on the floor, or athletes foot. Flip-flops are almost like going barefoot and will protect their feet.

I believe you are wrong. Why? From reading your message I'm thinking its a 50-50 chance that a child wrote this "question". Either that or you didn't get out of your trailer to attend classes very often.
Two suggestions:
1) Always wear shoes (or at least sandals) in public when not within the immediate vicinity of a barefoot activity. Meals, shopping, arcades etc are not considered barefoot activities.
2) Try using MS Word to compose your messages. That way you can utilize the nifty spell and grammar-checking features before you post unintelligible prattle.

As long as it is not against the hotel policy and as long as it is not a run down, nasty hotel. My kids went barefoot at a hotel before because of the pool so I am sure it would be okay!

No, at the pool is OK. But if I were in that restaurant and I saw your children eating barefoot, I might think they are orphans, or you couldn't afford shoes, or that they had no manners at all. I realize this is not the case, but I'm giving you the opinion of a stranger. Plus, think of the fungus that could grow, all that bacteria and germs on the floor!

You shouldn't allow your kids to wander around barefoot. If they're barefoot at and around the pool it's okay, but you shouldn't let them go barefoot when they're eating in restaurants, shopping, etc. for several reasons:
1. It's dangerous for your children; they could step on broken glass, nails, etc.
2. It's unsanitary and appetite-destroying to the people sitting at the next table. Those people shouldn't have to be visually assaulted by your kids' dirty feet while they're trying to eat their battered shrimp.
3. It teaches your kids bad manners. Believe it or not, manners are still important to most people.

I would take sandals or flip-flops that way as long as they behave and things go well the can stay barefoot, but if they start skinning their feet up on the pool area or slipping inside, you can keep them safe with shoes on. Losening up some can be great, because as long as they are happy and safe, some rules bendig a bit is a good thing and fun for them. I had to learn that too.

I don't think so. A hotel isn't the same as your home. When leaving the hotel room shoes should be worn. Flip-flops would be fine, especially for walking to the pool. Bare feet are NOT acceptible at mealtime in a restaurant. If you're having room service shoes are optional.
