Okay, my baby's 'biological father' has never paid any child support and I do not really have the oney to got hrough the state to apply for child support...obviously due to raisng a child without his help and trying to pay my bills also. But, is there any way of going about getting child support for free? And will they make him pay for not paying me any yet?? Or do I have to have a court order to get back support? She is only nine months old. Oh and now he has another girl 6 months pregnant {why we aren't together...lol, cheater}, he doesn't have angel because he can't care for a child, and she doesn't have her other baby {only 1 year old} because she can't either...should I alert defax or will they only think I am a disgruntled mother and not look into it? Yeah, I'm mad because he doesn't pay me, but I am honestly worried about this new baby. Please help me and thank you to everyone ahead of time.

It is free if you file through the attorney general's office. They can not charge you for collecting on the child support due your child. What state are you in?
I am in Texas. I have a lot of problems with my ex-husband not wanting
to pay his child support and I am a full time college student, so
therefore do not have the money to pursue him through my attorney. I use the
state attorney general.
http://www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/cse/fct/cshdbk.htm try this website.
I would also call your local department of human services. They can
direct you in the right place. Good luck.

You should be able to just make an appointment with your county child support office at no cost to you. They'll probably take a few dollars from the money they collect to cover their clerical costs. And unless there was a previous court order or you were on some sort of state aid (food stamps, etc) then he won't have to pay back support as no order was given. Its up to you to persuit this or the child support has no clue you even exsist.

Call your local child support office. They don't charge you anything. Actually, they'll charge him all processing fees, reimbursement fees, etc. If either of you requests a paternity test, he will have to reimburse the state for the costs of the test, when adjudicated the father.
Also, it is common in most states for the father to reimburse the costs of birthing expenses of the child. This would be everything billed to the insurance company, in the child's name. If you had medical insurance, or paid out of pocket at that time, he will be legally responsible for repayment to you. In my state (WI) it's 100% of the birthing expenses. If you rec'd state aid at the time, child support would have been started for you right away, as he would have been responsible for repaying the state that money.
For most states, first come first serve. Your baby was first born, therefore he does not have the legal right to ask for a reduction in percentage of income. He will, however have the right to ask for a reduction of percentage on the child support case with his second born.
Call your child support office now. It can take up to 2 months to get a court date. But the longer you wait, the longer it'll take.

Make a call to the local office of the District Attorney and ask them to guide you to Family Court. You can file the paperwork and get the process started. There is no need to contact a private attorney if paternity is not in question.

You can go to the local county courthouse and apply or contact a lawyer who will help you out. There are some organizations who help single mothers without taking fees,(mostly low income women). Use local resources to look them up.
Also some states will do it for you, every state is different but most keep up on the fathers. You can look up state laws on your computer.
Hope this little bit helps *smiles*

You take him to court. You can have the court make him pay or defer the fees for a year or two until you can pay them back. I would make him pay. You will have to know where he is, his SS#, and employer info. If you don't have that info find out from his family or friends. Also check the court house website they have useful links to help you. look up the family court section.

Google the "CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT BUREAU" for your state..they should have all the information that you need. They will help you file a petition for support and help you establish paternity. He can also be held responsible for health coverage for the child as well as child care expenses while you are at work or school.
