What specific exercises should I do to get "ripped" ? Do push ups help alot? I don't know if I should start going to a gym or what. Are they worth it?

Bowflex, haven't you seen the comercials??!!..... J/K, best thing, do cardio 3-4 times a week, for about an hour, good cardio. This burns fat to make your muscles more visible. Then, leg lifts, crunches, curls, flys, bench press..... uh oh, fire alarm, see ya!!

For muscle mass, you need to watch what and when you eat just as much as you workout. You need to eat most of your carbs, and a little protein before you workout, then the rest of your protein afterwards (about 15-45mins after).

Push-ups are great, they work your pecks more than anything. Standard bicep curls for your biceps.
For your neck.....er.....that muscle on your sholder/neck, grab a weight and lift above your head.

For weight training, you want more weight and fewer reps. Toning and muscle defining is less weight and more reps. Depending on your current size, a good example is 10 lbs, 3 groups of 10. So do 10 reps, rest or do something else with a different muscle group then another 10, then rest then the last 10.

Along with your eating, resting is also just as important. When you work out, and your muscle is sore, that means the 'fibers' or tendants or whatever have torn (this is good). When you rest, the muscle is healing and actually getting bigger.

So always rest the next day, or work different muscle groups different days. You cannot workout 2 days in a row on the same muscle. You'll just do more harm than good.

And in regards to the gym, if you have a barbell, some free weights and somewhere to run you don't need it.

If you are asking this question, go to a gym and get started on a training program. If you work out at home, you'll get hurt.

The gyms have all the equipment you'll need for variety. They will also tell you what you need to eat (protein). Stay away from steroids, they'll make your wee wee shrink for good.

You will lift heavy weights for short reps. You'll probably focus on one muscle group each day (arms, chest, core, thighs).

Please work the whole body. Mighty Mouse is SO unattractive.

Weight training and some kind of cardiovascular exercise to burn the extra fat. Doing weights will increase your muscle mass and doing the cardio will burn the fat and make your muscles noticeable...give you the "ripped" look! Cut down on your sugar intake and increase your protein intake to 3 times daily! Drink plenty of water and if you want to burn extra calories drink a cup of green tea before your workouts...and then drink plenty of water. Muscles are made up mostly of water so drinking plenty of water is just as important as exercising them! Best of luck.

If you are up for the challenge then the gym's weight room will
help you get built. Push ups help but only certain muscles.
