Human head hair grows at a speed of half an inch per month. So however many inches you want it to grow- multiply it by 2 and that is how long it will take in months:, say 6 inches would take 12 months - but that's without trimming it at all, which isn't good for your hair (the ends split and fall off so it would probably actually take longer than 12 months from you not taking care of it). Your hair grows healthily if you cut it once every 2 months max, even if it's just a little bit, to keep the split ends away. Then again, all individuals have certain hair types which only allow it to grow until a certain length, so you may not even ever be meant to have long long hair due to your genes. Just don't go longer than 2 months without a trim and you'll have healthy hair that will grow long if you take care of it.

Since it takes 1 year for 6 inches of hair to grow, it will take a year before it gets below your chest. I measured my shoulder to below my chest and it was six inches. You might have a differnet measurement. But just remember that hair grows half an inch each month.

Your hair grows faster in the summer when you are more active. It also helps when you drink enough water and get enough calcium in your diet. The average person's hair grows 1/2" a month. Good luck to you!

Most people's hair grows about half an inch per month. So do the math.

However, if your hair is particularly brittle (for instance, if you bleach it), the ends might break off, and if so, it could take much longer.
